Hounds Agree to Terms with Matai Leuta
CHICAGO, I.L.- After announcing the signings of a pair of forwards last week, the Chicago Hounds confirmed today they have signed wing Matai Leuta for the remainder of the 2023 Major League Rugby season.
Leuta, an Olympic representative for the United States 7s program, spent the 2022 campaign with the western-conference-finalists Houston Sabercats. During his first year in MLR, he made 17 appearances, with 12 starts on the season. The 6’3”, 235 pound wing scored a pair of tries in those 17 appearances.
The 32-year-old is expected to arrive in the Hounds’ camp this week and will look to add depth to the back-three currently consisting of Mark O’Keeffe, Julian Dominguez, Caleb Strum, and J.P. Eloff.
