Brock Webster Named Major League Rugby’s Player of the Year

CHICAGO, Il.- Fullback Brock Webster earned Major League Rugby’s 2026 Player of the Year Award, the league announced Friday. The 25-year-old was a key cog in the Hounds’ machine this season and capped off a historic season with the league’s most prestigious individual honor.

Webster signed with the Hounds this past offseason after spending the 2025 season with the New England Free Jacks. The fullback made an immediate impact for Chicago, starting all 11 of his appearances and playing 867 minutes.

On offense, he set new career-highs in nearly every statistical category, including points scored (30), tries (six), clean line breaks (18), and defenders beaten (42). Webster carried the ball for 667 meters on his 113 carries, averaging 5.9 meters-per-carry.

He set a single-game franchise record against the Carolina Anthem in week seven when he beat 13 defenders. He followed that up with a single-season franchise record for clean line breaks, registering 18 on the year. Webster earned First-Team All-MLR honors for the first time in his career, following up an All-MLR Honorable Mention nod from a year ago. The fullback was also named the Hounds’ Back of the Year for his record-setting season.
