Hounds Acquire Mason Koch in Trade
CHICAGO, I.L.- The Hounds today announced a trade the club has made in lead up to the 2023 Major League Rugby season.
Chicago received hooker Mason Koch from the NOLA Gold and in exchange the Gold received salary cap considerations for the 2023 MLR Season.

New Orleans Receives: Salary Cap Considerations for the 2023 Season
New Orleans selected Koch (5-9, 220 pounds) in the MLR Dispersal Draft held earlier this year. He was selected by Austin in the 2020 MLR Draft with the 16th overall pick.
As a rookie in 2021, he appeared in nine contests with 265 minutes played. He made the most of his time, recording two tries and 109 meters on his 20 carries (5.5 MPC) while recording 39 tackles on his 41 attempts. He finished the season with one breakdown steal.
During Koch’s second year in Austin, he appeared in 12 contests with one start. He recorded 16 carries for 111 meters (6.9 MPC) and was perfect on his 30 tackle attempts.
Koch was a two-time captain at Dartmouth and helped lead them to four consecutive Ivy League conference championships.
The Chicago Hounds kick off their inaugural season in Major League Rugby on February 18th at 1:00 PM CST when they take on Old Glory DC at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia.
